Ramón von Schükkmann returns to lead Pine Cliffs Resort – Portugal Resident
The Pine Cliffs Resort in Albufeira has appointed Ramón von Schükkmann as its new Complex General Manager, marking his return to the Algarve luxury resort after more than a decade in senior leadership roles with some of the world’s best-known hospitality brands.
Von Schükkmann brings more than 25 years of international experience in luxury hospitality, having held executive positions with The Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis and W Hotels across Europe, the United States and the Indian Ocean.
The appointment also marks a return to familiar territory. Between 2006 and 2010, he served as Complex Director of Sales & Marketing at Pine Cliffs, where he oversaw sales and marketing for the resort and played a key role in the launch of Pine Cliffs Residence, expanding the property’s luxury accommodation offering.
Most recently, he was Hotel Manager at The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama, where he oversaw the day-to-day operations of the 462-room resort and led a team of around 700 employees. During his five-year tenure, the hotel restored full operations following the Covid-19 pandemic, while increasing guest satisfaction, occupancy and revenue.
His career has also included senior commercial roles at The St. Regis Washington, D.C., W South Beach in Miami and The St. Regis Mauritius.
“It’s with enormous enthusiasm that I return to Pine Cliffs Resort, a property that holds a very special place in both my professional and personal journey,” said von Schükkmann.
“Taking on the role of Complex General Manager at this iconic resort is a privilege. I’m looking forward to working alongside an outstanding team to continue elevating the luxury experience we offer our guests and ensuring Pine Cliffs remains a benchmark for European tourism.”
Pine Cliffs Resort, part of the United Hospitality Management group, is one of Portugal’s best-known luxury resorts and has received numerous international accolades over the years. The appointment comes as the Algarve continues to strengthen its position in the high-end tourism market, with luxury hospitality remaining one of the region’s fastest-growing segments.
