Six minors in detention for muggings with guns and knives in Lisbon – Portugal Resident
Six minors have been arrested by PJ police today, suspected of crimes in Lisbon and Seixal ‘practised using guns and knives’.
In a statement, the PJ says the six, all aged either 16 or 17, were arrested by the Setúbal Department of Criminal Investigation for robbery, kidnap and detention, and the use of prohibited weapons.
“The investigation, led by the PJ, has established that, last February, the suspects approached two female victims in an area of Parque das Nações, Lisbon, from whom they took personal items, following threats and aggressions.”
According to the PJ, the suspects also stole money from the two victims, and then went online to access the women’s banking apps “which they used to effect transfers to their own advantage.”
“Some of the suspects took the victims, against their will – and in a car belonging to one of them – to a location in Seixal where they left them, continuing on in the stolen car back to Lisbon.”
In the statement, the PJ explains that their investigations allowed for the identification of “all the aggressors, as well as the recovery of a vast and solid collection of evidence attesting to the suspects’ involvement in the crimes”.
The six have already been presented before a magistrate, and remanded into preventive custody.
The investigation has passed now to Seixal public prosecutors.
