Theatre supports Algarve animals with fun and flair – Portugal Resident

On Sunday, June 7, the Algarve animal charity APAA is inviting the community to something a little out of the ordinary: a seaside celebration blending good food, laughter, music, and fashion, all in support of a meaningful cause.

The event takes place at Taberna do Sul, in Praia da Rocha (Portimão), where doors open at 2pm and the Atlantic ocean provides a stunning natural backdrop.

Guests will be welcomed with a luxury picnic – no soggy sandwiches here! – and the chance to sample a menu of specially curated cat- and dog-themed cocktails.

But this is far more than just a laid-back beach bar gathering. Once everyone is well-fed and comfortably seated, the entertainment begins. A talented cast of performers will present a mix of comedy sketches and uplifting songs, bringing plenty of energy and humour to the occasion.

Expect the unexpected, and plenty of laughs, from a grandmother who has a racey love life, a husband who has a feline marriage, and a gallery of classic portraits who appear to have a life of their own.

The highlight of the afternoon promises to be a fashion show with a twist. APAA will showcase its pre-loved and up-cycled summer collection, proving that sustainable fashion can be both stylish and fun. The collection is inspired by a range of leisure and social activities, and the runway will feature a memorable cast of characters, from an opera diva strutting her stuff to a party-loving granny keeping pace with the younger crowd.

For those of you inspired by what you see, there’s good news: many of the items featured on and off the catwalk will be available to “try and buy” at the on-site pop-up shop. It’s a chance to pick up something unique while supporting the charity’s work.

Tickets are priced at €25, which includes the luxury picnic and two hours of entertainment, making it not just an enjoyable outing, but a worthwhile one too.

There is, however, one small catch. With seating limited to just 70 people, tickets are expected to go quickly. So if an afternoon of seaside charm, good food, fashion, and community entertainment sounds like your kind of event, it may be wise to act fast.

After all, events like this don’t come around every day, and this will be an occasion to remember with pleasure.
