PSP seize cocaine hidden inside stuffed toy – Portugal Resident
A 35-year-old man has been arrested after PSP police found a surprise stash of cocaine hidden inside a stuffed toy.
Officers from the PSP’s criminal investigation unit raided a home in the Algarve town of Lagos on Monday afternoon (May 11) after getting a warrant from a judge.
During the search, officers spotted the plush toy being used to hide the drugs. Inside, they found 131 doses of cocaine ready to be sold. Along with the “drug plushie”, police also seized a set of digital scales, two mobile phones, and around €2,800 in cash.
The suspect is due to appear before a judge.
Local police say they are out on the streets every day to bust drug networks and keep the community safe.
“These interventions aim to reinforce the population’s sense of security, prevent crime associated with drug consumption and trafficking, and contribute to the protection of the health and well-being of the community,” PSP police say in a statement.
