Prayers for Bonnie Tyler as singer remains in critical condition in Faro Hospital – Portugal Resident
As the Resident went to press, fans all over the world were saying prayers for the recovery of Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler who remains in a critical condition in Faro Hospital following life-saving surgery for a ruptured appendix.
Tyler, 74, was put into an induced coma after the surgery – and she remains in it as doctors reportedly treat an infection that has complicated removing her from the ventilator.
The last post on the Bonnie Tyler Facebook page thanks her fans for “the incredible outpouring of love and well wishes we’ve received for Bonnie over the last few days. It truly means the world.
“Bonnie has been put into an induced coma by her doctors to aid her recovery. We know that you all wish her well and ask for privacy at this difficult time please. We will issue a further statement when we are able to.”
With British media following this story by the day, the ‘positive news’ this week has come from Tyler’s long-time friend in Portugal, Liberto Mealha, who has stressed that doctors are themselves “positive” about the star’s recovery.
Tyler’s husband, Robert Sullivan, is by her side every day – and it is a question now of hoping for the very best.
The singing sensation whose “Total Eclipse of the Heart” is perhaps her best known hit, has been performing since 1969. She has a deep love and connection with Portugal that this country has always delighted in. Her home in Albufeira is the reason that saw her rushed to Faro Hospital when the issue that had been dogging her for some weeks suddenly became an emergency.
