Atlantic Club Comporta opens bookings for luxury private residences – Portugal Resident
The Atlantic Club Comporta has officially opened and is now accepting reservations, introducing a new luxury residential concept that combines the privacy of a standalone villa with the services of a five-star hotel.
Located in Comporta, just over an hour south of Lisbon, the development is offering a limited number of private villas for stays of at least four nights during the 2026 season.
Set within a 15-hectare estate overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Carvalhal’s rice fields and pine forests, the resort comprises just 24 private villas, designed to blend into the surrounding landscape while reflecting the traditional architecture of Comporta’s wooden cabins.
The residences feature between four and eight bedrooms, with living areas ranging from approximately 280 to 650 square metres. Each villa includes a private swimming pool, sauna, spacious terraces and indoor and outdoor living areas designed to accommodate large families and multigenerational groups.
Founder Dietrich E. Rogge said the concept reflects changing travel preferences among high-end guests.
“Owners and guests are looking for more than a luxury stay. They want space, privacy and a genuine connection with the destination,” he said. “Comporta has always represented that spirit, and we have created a private residential community that puts people and place at the heart of the experience.”
The interiors have been designed by renowned French architect and interior designer Jacques Grange, whose longstanding connection with Comporta helped shape the project’s aesthetic.
“I fell in love with Comporta from my very first visit,” Grange said. “The challenge was to create architecture that respects the landscape and allows nature to take centre stage.”
The landscaping bears the signature of internationally acclaimed American landscape architect Madison Cox, renowned for his work on exclusive projects around the world. Cox is the custodian of Pierre Bergé’s legacy and serves as president of the Fondation Jardin Majorelle in Marrakesh, where he is responsible for preserving the celebrated botanical gardens acquired by Bergé and fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent.
For Atlantic Club Comporta, he has designed gardens using native species that blend seamlessly into the surrounding landscape and evolve naturally throughout the seasons.
Sustainability is central to the development, with low-density construction, locally sourced materials and careful integration into the surrounding environment intended to preserve the character of one of Portugal’s best-preserved coastal regions.
Alongside the villas, guests have access to a range of personalised services, including concierge, housekeeping, garden maintenance, private chefs and bespoke experiences, while shared spaces have been designed to encourage a sense of community without compromising privacy.
