Amy Winehouse tribute to take the stage in Portimão – Portugal Resident
Portuguese singer Ally Garrido will pay tribute to Amy Winehouse in a special concert at Rucla – Petiscos com Alma in Portimão on Friday, August 15, celebrating the music and legacy of the acclaimed British singer-songwriter.
The performance begins at 9pm and will revisit some of Winehouse’s best-known songs, highlighting her enduring influence on soul, jazz and R&B more than a decade after her death.
Garrido will be joined on stage by a six-piece band featuring Romero Araújo (guitar), Bony Godoy (bass), Corey Smith (keyboards), Ricardo Silva (saxophone) and Leo Tomich (drums).
With a musical career spanning around 20 years, Garrido has performed with a variety of projects including Macadâmia, Soul Glam, Take Two and Califado, and has also appeared at Solverde casinos.
Following a period in London, where she collaborated with several musicians including Brazilian artist Seu Jorge and percussionist Anselmo, who worked with Amy Winehouse’s father Mitch Winehouse, Garrido returned to Portugal and developed her tribute show.
The performance has since featured at events including Beerfest, Live and Loud, Carvoeiro Summerfest and Salema Blues Fest.
Last year, Garrido also launched the Ally Garrido Collective, a project marking her 20 years in music in partnership with pianist and musical director Enzo D’Aversa.
