Naples meets the Algarve in four-hands dinner – Portugal Resident
A one-night dining event in Albufeira will bring together Italian and Portuguese flavours, as Market Kitchen at W Algarve hosts a four-hands dinner on Thursday, May 14.
The evening will feature a collaboration between resident chef Andrea Ciuccio and guest chef João Magalhães, from Bar Alimentar. The concept centres on the culinary and cultural links between Naples and the Algarve, combining traditional ingredients with more contemporary approaches.
The menu is structured to reflect both regions, starting with a selection of canapés, including a Neapolitan-style sfogliatella filled with spider crab filling, octopus samosas inspired by “alla Luciana,” pão do caco served with Neapolitan Genovese sauce, and a cannolo filled with creamed cod and caramelised onion.
A shared couvert follows, featuring bread, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, anchovies, olives, peppers and orange zest, before the entrée of ravioli “à la cataplana,” combining Italian pasta with a traditional Algarve cooking style.
The main course is pork belly “alla ischitana,” a dish rooted in the island cuisine of southern Italy, while dessert brings together a Neapolitan baba served with pastel de nata ice cream.
The dinner begins at 7pm and is priced at €70 per person, with drinks included. Bookings can be made online.
