Ukrainian ambulance, riddled by Russian shelling, arrives in Lagos – Portugal Resident
The doughty Ukrainian ambulance that has been touring Europe since 2022 has arrived in Lagos, and will go on exhibition, in front of the town hall, on Monday from 11am, until 10.30pm the following day.
Part of the UKRAINE IS CALLING campaign, its arrival in the Algarve owes a lot to the local Oranta Association, but also to the LUkraine non-profit foundation, and the Ukrainian embassy in Lisbon.
The idea of this campaign is to keep up awareness of the horrors that Ukraine endures. As the LUkraine organisation explains, “our ambulance is not just an exhibit. It is a reminder of lives shattered, of those who risked everything to save others under fire, and of the price Ukraine continues to pay every day.”
Representatives of Oranta will be present during the exhibition, to answer people’s questions and describe some of the work of this organisation, which has been helping the war effort, behind the scenes, since 2022 – especially with repurposed vehicles, many of which have been used to treat and evacuate injured fighters.
